NJTL Program:  Assets

  • Children play free at our Club from 12:00 to 4:00

Approximately 40 members of our Cape May Tennis Club volunteer their time on and off the courts engaging our students in the game of tennis, fostering positive adult relationships embedded in trust, and showing our children that their dreams for their future can be their reality with hard work and determination. BRAVO to all.  Please know the difference you are all making in these children’s lives and in the future of our community. Such a pleasure working alongside you all.

 

At the inception of our NJTL Program here in Cape May three years ago, USTA introduced the Club to their Insurance Carrier enabling the Club to utilize this insurance at a much, reduced rate, saving the club close to $8,000.00.

 

Cape May Chapter of the NJTL was awarded “Premier Provider” Status this past year due to the incredible efforts of our volunteers on and off the courts.  This promotion (USTA stated usually takes 18-20 years) has opened up further Grants and a $500.00 Gift to the Cape May Tennis Club to be received annually.

 

Cape May Tennis Club no longer expends $3,000.00 to $4,000.00 for Scholarships to Local High School Boys and Girls Tennis Teams annually.  This Civic Endeavor is now being covered by the NJTL Fundraising Efforts providing for Dual Certification Credits in our local high schools and in our Future Scholarship Program.

 

The Gambling License procured under the Umbrella of our Non-Profit servicing under-resourced children has enabled NJTL to earn money for the organization/scholarship Fund.  The winnings from the current raffle being run by the Club, using same license, will be used for needed Capital Improvements.

 

Our older group of students, many of whom have been with us from the inception of our NJTL Program, are now donating time as Ambassadors of the NJTL assisting our volunteers on the courts with our younger students.  A sure sign of a successful program. If you attended the Social, you may have seen a few of them setting up for the evening, collecting tickets at the door, and remaining to the very end, cleaning up after the guests left.  BRAVO!!! As a reward, the NJTL bought four memberships to our Cape May Tennis Club. A Win/Win for all.

 

Good Will with the City of Cape May which leases our beautiful club to us for $1.00 per year.  At the last Council Meeting in which the Cape May Tennis Club was honored, the Mayor and every Council member applauded the NJTL Organization for fulfilling the Civic Responsibility of our Tennis Center honoring William J. Moore’s Legacy and they voiced their support as we continue to reach children in need and encourage tennis among our youth community.

 

NJTL has nine (9) students now playing on three local high school teams. These young students were our first group as we began this wonderful journey.  We are so proud and happy for them and to honor William J. Moore in this fashion.
